崇光女子高級中學 THE FOUNDING OF OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL
Our Lady of Providence Girls' HIGH School was first established as a Junior High School in 1967
and began to offer a senior high program a year later.
Founded by the Missionary Sisters of Providence, our school has a long tradition of providing
an education that is both academic and forward-looking. The aim of its founders was to impart
to each student the very best education to enable her to achieve her fullest spiritual and
intellectual capacity.
Located in the picturesque suburban city of Hsin Tien, renowned for beautiful scenery, our
school grounds have been planned and laid out with great care and foresight, thus, providing
our students with a lively, enthusiastic, healthy and revitalizing environment to excel in.
To give our students the very best education, our school offers a broad spectrum of subjects,
including fine arts, physical education and computing classes.
Our school has a tradition of excellence and is highly respected for its academic achievements
by the local community. To date, our school has a combined enrollment of more than 1,800 students,
in both its Junior and Senior High School programs.
OUR SCHOOL'S PHILOSOPHY
Our school prides itself on its academic excellence and endeavors to provide our students
with opportunities to learn in a holistic way. This spirit is also concisely reflected in
our school's motto: Sincerity, Veneration, Faithfulness and Consistency
Based on this philosophy, our school aims to encourage each student to thrive in an
environment that promotes sincerity, tolerance, consistency, perseverance, understanding
and respect for differences that exist in our community. Therefore, our curriculum is
characterized by a wide range of exciting academic, co-curricular and community activities,
which are designed to equip our students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed
in a changing world.
CURRICULUM
Intellectual Development
Our Lady of Providence Girls' High School has a strong commitment to providing educational
opportunities that are both relevant and challenging to assist in developing each individual.
Hence, students are encouraged to gain experience in a wide range of areas as well as
following their own interests. Music, drama and sport are among the wide range of co-curricular
activities available for students to choose from.
Further, to equip students with the skills, confidence and desire to create an interesting
future for themselves in a global world, our school also offers foreign language courses
including Japanese, French, German and Spanish, English Conversation and computing classes
as part of its extensive curriculum.
Staffed with a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty and well resourced by a
generous provision of materials and excellent facilities, our students are well equipped
to achieve their best.
Physical Development
Physical exercises are an integral part of a high quality, all-round education at our school.
Students are encouraged to turn to exercise as a healthy means to relieve their pressures
from the demands of daily life.
In addition to aerobic and physical exercises, a variety of competitive athletic activities
are also incorporated into our physical education program to foster the development of
teamwork and group dynamics.
Finally, our Physical Development Program also provides our students with the opportunity to
cultivate the characteristics associated with true sportsmanship - courage, humility,
persistence, perseverance and strength.
Social Development
Our students' horizons are further extended by the opportunity to join any of the 30 student
social clubs and organizations established by the school. These extra-curricular programs
are designed to help stimulate interest and create opportunities for our students to
experience a wide range of activities and cultivate new skills.
The school also hosts various charitable events, such as a Christmas Garden Party, an Easter
Egg hunt and an 8- hour Famine Camp at Lent, to help inculcate a sense of compassion, love
and generosity among our students.
Aesthetic Development
As part of our aesthetic development program, the school stages various activities such as
the choral contest, musical performances and exhibitions, annually. These activities are
aimed at developing our students into interesting individuals who are confident, creative
and have the ability to communicate their needs.
Nonetheless, the ultimate success of any program rests upon the individual care and
attention that we give to each of our students. Therefore, our trained counselors
serve not only to provide students with an avenue for them to release their emotional
burdens, but also to provide them with the relevant support and advice they need.
Students are also encouraged to use of the school's "Mind Culturing Hall" as a safe
haven for them to reflect, ponder and dream.
THE SCHOOL: OUR STUDENTS' SECOND HOME
At Our Lady of Providence Girls' High School, our goal is to provide a warm, caring and
stimulating environment for each student in our care. We believe that education involves
more than classroom activity; it is learning to live and work harmoniously with others of
all ages in the world outside.
To demonstrate that relationships matter, several traditional and family get-together
activities, such as the annual Tomb Sweeping Day, Mother's Day and Christmas, are also
carried over into the life of the school.
In short, our education philosophy focuses on love and discipline. With the careful
nurturing from our team of dedicated faculty and staff, your daughters will experience
an exciting, challenging and meaningful time during their years with our school.
